Illini women's golf secures second place in Florida State Match Up

Fighting Illini women's golf team concluded the second round of the Florida State Match Up in Tallahassee, Florida, securing second place with a team score of 299 (+11) at Seminole Legacy Golf Club. The team trails behind hosts and leaders Florida State by 13 strokes going into the final round.

Two Illinois golfers, Victoria Zheng and Lexanne Halama, are tied for third place at 1-over (145). Both players started their rounds on No. 1, each shooting a 35 (-1) on the front nine. Halama achieved this without any bogeys. Zheng finished her round with a score of 74 (+2), while Halama posted a 75 (+3). Zheng's eight birdies rank her third among competitors, and Halama's 24 pars place her fifth.

Anna Ritter recorded a team-low score of 71 (-1), tying for eleventh place after finishing bogey-free on the back nine with three birdies following a front nine at 2-over.

Yurang Li is tied for thirtieth after scoring an 82 (+10), and Brielle Mapanao is tied for fifty-fifth with a score of 79 (+7).

Competing individually, Erica Lee is tied for fifteenth after completing her second round with a score of 75 (+3).

Florida State's Mirabel Ting leads the individual standings at an impressive 11-under (133).

The Fighting Illini will resume play tomorrow morning, starting their final round tee times at 7:30 a.m. CT.
