Illinois women’s golf team leads after two rounds at Spring Break Shootout

Fighting Illini women's golf team concluded the first two rounds of the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Florida, in first place. The team recorded a 36-hole total of 578 (+11) at Lake Jovita Golf Club.

The Illinois team began with a 10-over 294 and finished with a 1-over 285, securing the top position on the leaderboard. Five of their golfers are among the top 15 individually.

Anna Ritter leads for Illinois, tying for third place at 1-under (143). She started with a 1-over 72 and ended with an even-par 71. Ritter achieved seven birdies in the second round, including four consecutive from holes No. 13 to No. 16, totaling ten birdies—the most in the field.

Victoria Zheng is positioned sixth after rounds of 75 (+4) and 69 (-2). Zheng made five birdies in her second round, moving up fifteen spots in individual standings. Her par-4 scoring average was -1 (3.94), the lowest on day one, and she has seven birdies overall.

Brielle Mapanao is tied for eleventh following rounds of 76 (+5) and 72 (+1). Mapanao's par-5 scoring average of -5 (4.63) was tied for lowest on day one.

Lexanne Halama stands fourteenth after carding rounds of 75 (+4) and 73 (+2), while Yurang Li is tied for forty-eighth with scores of 72 (+1) and 79 (+8).

Competing individually, Erica Lee is tied for fifteenth after rounds of 73 (+2) and 76 (+5).

St. John's Xuan Khue Minh Doan leads individually at 1-under (141).

The Fighting Illini will continue their performance tomorrow morning as they begin the third and final round at a shotgun start scheduled for 7:45 a.m. CT.
