The Illinois Fighting Illini secured a victory over Northwestern with an 83-74 win at the State Farm Center. This win marked their ninth consecutive home victory against the Wildcats, breaking a two-game losing streak.
Illinois led for almost 38 minutes of play. Morez Johnson Jr. contributed significantly with 15 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Ben Humrichous added 14 points, including four successful 3-pointers. Kasparas Jakucionis recorded his third double-double of the season with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Kylan Boswell led the team in scoring with 16 points alongside six rebounds and four assists. Jake Davis came off the bench to score 11 points while Tre White contributed eight points.
Illinois dominated in rebounding with a significant margin of 50-27 over Northwestern, collecting a season-high of 21 offensive boards. The Illini's strong performance on the glass was pivotal in securing their lead throughout the game.
