Chloe Cho has been recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after her impressive performance against Nebraska on January 18. Competing in only her second collegiate meet, Cho excelled by securing the top position on floor and in the all-around competition.
Originating from Simi Valley, California, Cho began the meet with a score of 9.800 on vault. She then surpassed her personal best on uneven bars with a score of 9.850 and set another career record on balance beam with a 9.825. In the final rotation, she improved her previous best of 9.625 by achieving a 9.925 on floor exercise. Her all-around score reached a new personal high at 39.400.
The Illini are scheduled to compete next against UCLA in Los Angeles on January 25 at 4 p.m. CT.
In other Big Ten Weekly Awards announced on January 21, Tory Vetter from Ohio State and Jordan Chiles from UCLA were named Co-Gymnasts of the Week, while Carly Bauman from Michigan and Brooklyn Moors from UCLA received Co-Event Specialists of the Week honors.
