FOIA Request to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Regarding 2024 Arrest Records on January 7, 2025.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office by Chambana Sun, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. The request, made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, seeks access to arrest records from the year 2024.
The specific information requested includes a list of all arrests made from January 1, 2024, till December 31, 2024. The fields requested for each arrest record are the arrestee's name, date of arrest, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have requested these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination.
