Champaign Police responded to the 1900 block of W. Bradley Avenue following multiple reports of a shooting with injuries at 12:36 a.m. on July 4, 2025. Shortly after, a 32-year-old man from Champaign arrived at a local hospital via personal transport in critical condition and was immediately taken into surgery but later died from his injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the man was outside a business when several shots were fired. The suspect or suspects fled the scene afterward, and damage to several vehicles has also been reported.
Officers are actively searching the area for witnesses and video footage that could aid in the investigation. Residents or businesses nearby with exterior surveillance cameras are encouraged to contact the police department. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. The Champaign Police Department expressed gratitude to the Urbana and Parkland College Police Departments and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
