FOIA Request to Alexander County Sheriff's Office Regarding 2024 Arrest Records on January 7, 2025.
In our continued commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Chambana Sun have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We are seeking access to arrest records from the year 2024.
Specifically, we have requested a list of all arrests made from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. The requested data fields include the arrestee's name, date of arrest, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. In line with this role of disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a positive response from the Alexander County Sheriff's Office as we continue our work in providing transparent and accountable news coverage.
