University of Illinois football players earn academic all-district honors

Six players from the University of Illinois football team have been recognized as College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2024 Academic All-District performers. The CSC Academic All-America program acknowledges student-athletes who excel both on the field and in academics.

To qualify for the Academic All-District honor, student-athletes must be sophomores or older with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. They must also participate in at least 90% of their team's games or start in at least 66% of them.

These six athletes will now advance to the CSC Academic All-America team ballot, with selections set to be announced on January 28. Historically, the Fighting Illini football program has earned 37 Academic All-America honors through 26 different student-athletes since its first selections in 1952.

The honorees are as follows:

- Tanner Arkin, a junior majoring in Kinesiology.

- Hank Beatty, a junior majoring in Marketing.

- TeRah Edwards, a senior pursuing an MS in Strategic Brand Communication.

- Josh Gesky, a junior majoring in Kinesiology.

- Kenenna Odeluga, a junior majoring in Finance.

- Miles Scott, a junior majoring in Kinesiology.
