Former Illinois basketball star and current Minnesota Timberwolves rookie, Terrence Shannon Jr., will have his jersey raised to the rafters at the State Farm Center on February 15. This event is part of the Illinois Basketball Honored Jerseys program.

The ceremony will take place during halftime of the Illinois home game against Michigan State, scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and broadcast nationally on FOX. Although the game is sold out, tickets can be purchased online through Seat Geek.

Josh Whitman, Director of Athletics, announced on June 20 that Shannon would be included in the Honored Jerseys program. Shannon becomes the 36th player in Fighting Illini Men's Basketball history to receive this honor and is the third player during head coach Brad Underwood's tenure to earn this distinction, following consensus All-Americans Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn.

Terrence Shannon Jr.'s achievements include being named an All-American by four media outlets after leading Illinois to 29 wins, which marked the third-winningest season in school history and a No. 6 ranking in the final AP poll. He was also selected for the NCAA All-Region Team as he led Illinois to its first Elite Eight appearance since 2005.

Shannon was named Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player while starring as Illinois secured its third conference title in four years. He was recognized as a first-team All-Big Ten by coaches, media, and AP. Additionally, he shattered several records including becoming the first Illini ever to score over 700 points in a single season with a total of 736 points. His scoring average ranked third in NCAA at 23.0 ppg, marking it as the highest by an Illini player in over five decades.

He set a Big Ten Tournament three-game scoring record with an average of 34.0 points per game (102 total) and was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Moreover, he set an Illinois single-season record with twenty-one games scoring over twenty points and made a record-setting number of free throws at 221 for a single season.

Shannon was also honored as University of Illinois Male Athlete of the Year.
