The Fighting Illini women's tennis team concluded their home schedule with a 4-1 victory over Purdue on Senior Day. This win improved Illinois' record to 15-7 overall and 7-2 in Big Ten matches, while Purdue now stands at 11-9 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Purdue secured the doubles point after nearly an hour and a half of competition. The Illinois pair of Kate Duong and Megan Heuser achieved a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, but Illinois could not clinch another doubles match. With this result, Heuser and Duong moved to a season record of 5-5.
Kasia Treiber put Illinois on the scoreboard with a decisive win at No. 5 singles, improving her season record to 14-13 overall and 6-3 in Big Ten play. Kida Ferrari followed with another victory for Illinois at No. 5 singles, bringing her season tally to 12 wins against six losses.
McKenna Schaefbauer contributed with a straight-set victory at No. 2 doubles, enhancing her team-best record to 15 wins against seven losses this season.
Fifth-year senior Josie Frazier secured the team's Senior Day triumph with a win at No. 4 singles, marking her fourth clinching victory of the season.
Illinois will conclude their regular season on the road next weekend with matches against Penn State on April 19 and Ohio State on April 21.
