On Senior Night at Huff Hall, the Illinois volleyball team secured a straight-sets victory over Michigan. This win improved the Fighting Illini's record to 16-12 overall and 11-7 in conference play, while Michigan fell to 7-20 with a 5-13 league mark.
The Illini recorded 41 kills with a .360 hitting percentage, along with seven blocks and seven aces. Raina Terry led the team with 17 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, reaching her 500th kill of the season during the match. Brooke Mosher contributed 32 assists and was one dig short of a double-double. Caroline Barnes had ten digs, and Cari Bohm achieved four blocks.
The match began with Illinois taking an early lead after a scoring run with Jessica Nunge serving. The Illini maintained their momentum throughout the first set, ending it with a service ace from Vanessa Pan for a 25-13 win.
In the second set, both teams exchanged points until Illinois pulled ahead following an ace by Terry. Despite Michigan's efforts to close the gap, Illinois secured another set victory at 25-19.
The third set saw Illinois quickly gaining an advantage. Despite Michigan narrowing the scoreline mid-set, Illinois maintained control and concluded the match with back-to-back errors from Michigan for another 25-19 win.
Illinois will now prepare for its final road trip of the regular season against Minnesota. The match is scheduled for broadcast on B1G+ at 5:30 p.m.
