Illinois volleyball is set to conclude its regular season with away matches against Minnesota and Northwestern. The team will face the Golden Gophers on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Maturi Pavilion, followed by a match against the Wildcats on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Both games will be broadcast on B1G+.
This year marks the 50th season for Illinois volleyball, with head coach Chris Tamas leading the team in his seventh season. Tamas has achieved a record of 131-79 during his tenure.
In their last home game, Illinois defeated Michigan in straight sets during Senior Night. Raina Terry led the team with 17 kills and reached her 500th kill of the season in that match.
The series history between Illinois and Minnesota favors Minnesota, with Illinois losing their last eight encounters. Against Northwestern, Illinois holds a more favorable record, having won their most recent match earlier this month.
Raina Terry has been a standout player this season, achieving over 20 kills in ten matches and ranking highly in several national categories for kills and points per set.
Kennedy Collins recently reached her 400th career block milestone as part of her contributions to the team's defense.
Minnesota enters Friday's match with a record of 15-11 overall and an 11-7 mark in Big Ten play. Northwestern stands at 13-15 overall with a conference record of 7-11.
Chris Tamas continues to lead Illinois through another competitive season as they prepare for these final regular-season challenges.
