Illinois men's tennis alum Rajeev Ram has been selected to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This announcement was made by Team USA on Thursday.
Ram is among six men and a total of 11 members of the Team USA tennis contingent heading to Paris. This marks his third Olympic appearance. In 2016, he won a silver medal in mixed doubles alongside Venus Williams, and he aims to reach the podium again this summer.
During his college years at Illinois, Ram was part of the 2003 team that achieved a perfect season with a 32-0 record and secured the NCAA team national championship. He earned All-American honors and was named First-Team All-Big Ten in his debut season. Additionally, he became an NCAA doubles champion and received the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award following an impressive freshman year.
Currently ranked No. 6 in ATP doubles, Ram has claimed six Major wins throughout his professional career. He is also a three-time reigning U.S. men's doubles champion, having won 31 men's doubles titles overall. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, he faced a second-round defeat in men's doubles and a first-round loss in mixed doubles.
The tennis competition at the upcoming Games will occur from July 27 to August 4 at Roland-Garros.
