No. 11 Illinois men's tennis team is preparing for its final non-conference matches, scheduled to take place at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The team will face Oral Roberts and Tulsa on Thursday, March 14, followed by a match against Oklahoma State on Saturday, March 16.
Illinois has not previously competed against Oral Roberts but holds a 5-1 record over Tulsa and an even 2-2 record with Oklahoma State. Oral Roberts recently experienced a loss to North Dakota after a three-match winning streak. Tulsa and Oklahoma State concluded their recent dual with Oklahoma State securing a victory of 4-1.
A notable event during these matches will be the potential meeting between brothers Oliver and Alex Okonkwo. Oliver, a graduate student, plays for Illinois, while his younger brother Alex competes for Tulsa. Both have played singles at the No. 5 spot, increasing the likelihood of them facing each other in singles competition.
