Illinois athletes earn Academic All-Big Ten honors across multiple sports

The Big Ten Conference has announced the student-athletes who have been named to the Academic All-Big Ten team for spring sports. To qualify for this recognition, athletes must be in at least their second academic year and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

A total of seventy-eight student-athletes from Illinois were honored across eight winter sports programs.

In baseball, honorees include Brady Banker, Gavin Bennett, Korey Bunselmeyer, Joe Glassey, Brody Harding, Payton Hutchings, Camden Janik, Connor Milton, Ryan Moerman, Ben Plumley, Coltin Quagliano, Julius Sanchez, Jacob Schroeder, Jake Swartz, Logan Tabeling and Drake Westcott.

For men's golf: Jackson Buchanan, Piercen Hunt, Jerry Ji and Ryan Voois were recognized.

Men's tennis players Tyler Bowers, Mathis Debru, Hunter Heck, Kenta Miyoshi and William Mroz also made the list.

In men's track & field: Alex Babbington, Evan Cummins, Tyler Cushing and several others were acknowledged for their academic achievements.

Softball players Paige Berkmeyer and Zoe Caryl are among those who received honors alongside other teammates like Gabrielle Debevec and Juliana Hooker.

Women's golf honorees include Lexanne Halama and Anna Ritter among others. Women's tennis saw Kate Duong and Kida Ferrari on the list as well.

Finally in women's track & field: Olivia Campbell along with Maggie Gamboa are some of the athletes who achieved this distinction.
