The Illinois football team is gearing up for the Orange and Blue Spring Game, scheduled to take place on April 20 at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois. The game will commence at 1 p.m. CT and is open to the public free of charge.
This event marks Illinois' first at Memorial Stadium during its 100th anniversary season. To celebrate this milestone, season tickets are available starting at $100, offering an affordable option for fans.
Broadcast coverage of the Spring Game will be provided by Big Ten Network with Matt Schumacker, J Leman, and Brooke Fletcher. Radio coverage will be handled by Brian Barnhart on the Busey Bank Illini Sports Network.
No tickets are required for entry as the game is free. Gates will open at noon CT with access through Gates 20, 22, and 24 on the west side of Memorial Stadium. Parking is also complimentary, with Lot 31 opening at 7 a.m. CT and ADA parking available in the northwest State Farm Center lot.
Tailgating activities will begin early with Grange Grove opening at 7 a.m. CT featuring inflatables in the Kids Zone and food trucks. Fans can set up tailgates from Friday night between 5-7 p.m. CT.
A Gameday Spirit Merchandise Sale is planned in the Great West Hall from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. CT accessible via Gate 10 entrance.
Illini Hour will offer $3 beers and $2 water from noon until one hour before kickoff.
The clear bag policy remains effective for attendees entering Memorial Stadium.
Premium seating options include general public tickets priced at $20 for entry into the Colonnades Club while club members have received their respective tickets via email communication.
General seating will be available on the west stands with ADA seating located on the west balcony. An event specifically designed for incoming admitted students will take place in the North End Zone student section as part of IlliniFest celebrations across campus.
Students are encouraged to participate in pregame festivities within Grange Grove alongside Block I student section tailgate activities before occupying their usual seats during gameplay.
In terms of game format: offense players don blue uniforms; defense dons white; quarterbacks wear orange; no scorekeeping or kick/punt returns; halftime lasts twelve minutes accompanied by two-minute breaks after first/third quarters potentially utilizing running clock method throughout second half totaling two hours duration overall concluding skill competition among former Illini football athletes vying longest throw/punt/field goal accolades during intermission period.
