Gabrielle Debevec, a junior on the Fighting Illini softball team, shared her excitement for the upcoming season and recent team-bonding activities. A middle infielder from Antioch, Illinois, Debevec is studying accounting at the Gies College of Business.

As practices commence for the Big Ten Championship, Debevec expressed enthusiasm about the new additions to the team. "This year, we welcomed some amazing new women to the team who are just as committed as the returners are to bring this softball team to a new level," she said.

The team's recent bonding event included a challenge known as the courage pole. Team members climbed a telephone pole while harnessed and shouted out something they wanted more courage to achieve once they reached the top. "I was very proud of the way each one of us were able to be vulnerable, even at 30 feet in the air," Debevec noted. The final task involved jumping off the pole, which every member completed with mutual support.

Looking ahead to fall ball, Debevec is optimistic about their performance. "We are preparing and improving every day to have an undefeated fall season," she stated. She anticipates showcasing their capabilities to fans this year.

"I-L-L," signed Gabrielle Debevec.
