Illinois women's golf team concluded the first round of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational tied for second place with a team total of 298 (+10) in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
Brielle Mapanao, making her debut for Illinois, finished the day tied for seventh after an opening round of 73 (+1). Mapanao recorded two birdies, one on each nine.
Lexanne Halama and Victoria Zheng are both tied for 12th, each carding a 74 (+2). Halama secured three birdies, including two on the back nine, while Zheng had two birdies.
Yurang Li is positioned at 32nd after posting a score of 77 (+5). Brielle Burns, also debuting for Illinois, stands at 52nd following her round of 80 (+8).
Anna Ritter, competing individually, is tied for fifth after shooting an even-par 72 and achieving four birdies.
TCU leads the team standings at 7-over (295), while Missouri's Fleur Van Beek holds the individual lead with a score of 2-under (70).
The Fighting Illini will resume play tomorrow with second-round tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT.
