CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – University of Illinois offensive lineman Josh Kreutz was named to the 2024 watch list for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame on Thursday.
The award is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry who epitomizes great ability and integrity. The watch list comprises 96 players from 37 NCAA FBS schools.
Previous winners include Laiatu Latu (DL, UCLA) and Taulia Tagovailoa (QB, Maryland) in 2023, Tuli Tuipulotu (DL, USC) in 2022, and Haskell Garrett (DL, Ohio State) in 2021.
Josh Kreutz has been recognized as part of the Athlon Preseason All-Big Ten Fourth Team for 2024. In 2023, he received an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention from both coaches and media and started all 12 games at center for the Illini. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), he was graded as the No. 8 center in the Big Ten with a minimum of 600 snaps and was rated as the No. 11 center nationally in his first career start against Toledo on September 2, 2023.
Other University of Illinois players on various watch lists as of August 15 include Kaden Feagin for the Doak Walker Award, Zakhari Franklin for Comeback Player recognition, Josh McCray for both Doak Walker and Comeback awards, Dylan Rosiek for the Butkus Award, Cole Rusk for the John Mackey Award, and Kenenna Odeluga for the Wuerffel Trophy.
