Illinois volleyball has been awarded the 2024 AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Wednesday afternoon.

The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. This year, more than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs earned the recognition, marking an all-time record number of programs honored for their academic achievements.

INTENT, in its first year sponsoring the prestigious award, is a digital platform linking student-athletes and military special ops veterans to a network of candidate-seeking employers. The tech company guides student-athletes and service members toward professional and personal success after sports and service.

This accolade marks the 12th-straight season the Fighting Illini program has earned the award. During the 2023-24 campaign, ten student-athletes received Academic All-Big Ten honors while five were recently named distinguished scholars by the league.

The complete list of teams honored by the AVCA can be found here.
