City of Gibson City Council met Dec. 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Dickey. 

Roll Call: 

Ward #1 Susie Tongate: A    Sarah Sarantakos: A

Ward #2 Randy Wyant: P     Ray Hankes: P

Ward #3 Scott Davis: P         Doug Parsons: P

Ward #4 Denis Fisher: A       Laura Miller: P

Visitors: Chief Rosendahl, Admin Scott Shull, Treasurer Vickie Lorenzen, Recycling Chairman Karen Kummerow, and Jean Noellsch - Ford County Chronicle. 

Pledge led by Alderman Wyant. 

Motion to approve Minutes of December 11, 2023 made by Alderman Hankes, 2nd made by Alderman Davis. Motion carried 5/0. 

Administrative Report: Working with IPG this week on the insurance changes. 

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Lorenzen gave a complete report / no questions asked. 

Old business: 

A. Solar Farm Project - Continued to January 8th, 2024 meeting. 

Bills: 

Motion made by Alderman Miller to pay 1 check from Motor Fuel Tax in the amount of $10,981.60 to Opperman Construction as final payment on 10th & West Street project, 2nd made by Alderman Wyant, motion approved 5/0. 

Motion to pay 1 TIF 2 check in the amount of $41,597.44 made by Alderman Miller, 2nd made by Alderman Parsons, motion approved 5/0. 

Motion to pay General fund checks in the amount of $143,736.85 made by Alderman Hankes, 2nd made by Alderman Wyant, motion approved 5/0. 

New Business: 

A. Motion made by Alderman Parsons to approve an application for a raffle license on behalf of Friends of Jason R. Bunting for an event to be held at the Kruse Center on February 10, 2024. 2nd to that motion made by Alderman Hankes, motion approved 5/0. 

B. Chairman of Recycling Committee, Karen Kummerow, reported to council the committee received a generous donation of $500.00 from the Presbyterian Church. Committee recommends using those funds towards new tires for Ridgeview Recycling, as he is in dire need of new tires on his trailer. 

Alderman Parsons made a motion to approve the recommendation made by the Recycling Committee to use the donation of $500.00 towards tires for the recycling trailer. 2nd made by Alderman Wyant; motion approved 5/0. 

C. Motion made by Alderman Miller to Enter Executive Session for the Limited Purpose of Discussing the Employment, Performance, and/or Compensation for One or More City Employees Pursuant to %ILCS 120/2 (c) (1); 2nd to that motion made by Alderman Hankes. Council entered Executive Session at 7:10 p.m. 

D. Council returned to Regular Session at 7:19 p.m. 

E. Motion made by Alderman Miller to increase wages for Head Administrative Assistant Scott Shull to $62,004.80 effective January 1st, 2024, 2nd made by Alderman Parsons, motion approved 5/0. 

Alderman Davis made a motion to adjourn, 2nd made by Alderman Miller. Motion passed all in favor, meeting adjourned @ 7:25 p.m.
