City of Gibson City Council met Oct. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Dickey.

Pledge led by Alderman Davis.

New Business:

AN ORDINANCE, 2023-O-33 amending a prior bond authorizing the issuance of General Obligation Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2023 of the City of Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois, in an aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $2,300,000 for the purpose of financing the costs of certain capital projects within the City and paying for costs related thereto and providing for the levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on said bonds.

Council had no specific questions as information had been provided for review prior to the meeting. Bond terms are $2.3 million (supersedes the $7.5 million), from Heartland Bank, for 8 years at 4.5%.

Mayor Dickey stated funds will be used to pay for the infrastructure needs of new vac truck, camera system/truck, GIS mapping, street sweeper and the new water meter system.

Alderman Hankes made the motion to approve Ordinance #2023-O-33 as presented, 2nd made by Alderman Wyant. Comments – Alderman Fisher Chairman of Ordinance Committee, read from the Code that when ordinances are presented, they are to be read aloud one time and then directed to the appropriate committee for discussion and review. He went on to say that we have not followed this rule and hopes that in the future we can do better at involving committees before presenting Ordinances for a vote. No further comments, roll call vote passed 6 in favor, 1 against, 1 absent.

No further business, motion to adjourn by Alderman Davis, 2nd made by Alderman Tongate, meeting adjourned @ 6:20 p.m.
