City of Hoopeston City Council met April 4

City of Hoopeston City Council met April 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CLERK LANE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER FOLLOWING THE PLEDGE OA ALLEGIANCE

II. ROLL CALL-The six aldermen present were Eyrich, Ferrell, Gonzalez, Lawson, Porth and Miller. Garrett and Richards were absent.

III. MAYOR PRO TEM- In the absence of Mayor Wise, Eyrich moved to nominate Alderwoman Lawson as Mayor Pro Tem with a second from Ferrell. Roll call vote taken and all six council members present voted aye.

IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA- Ferrell made a motion to approve the agenda seconded by Miller. The motion was approved 6-0.

V. MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING-Ferrell moved to approve minutes second by Gonzalez. Minutes approved 6-0.

VI. PAYMENT OF BILLS- Ferrell moved to approve payment of bills seconded by Eyrich. Roll call vote six to zero approved payment of bills.

VII. NO PRESENTATIONS

VIII.NO PETITIONS TO COUNCIL

IX. NO PUBLIC COMMENT

X. EXECUTIVE SESSION- Porth made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss property acquisition. Ferrell second the motion. Roll call vote six to zero to go into Executive Session at 7:05 p.m. discuss property acquisition. Eyrich moved to come out of Executive Session seconded by Miller. Vote six to zero to come out of Executive Session at 7:17 p.m.

XI. REPORT OF OFFICERS

a) Eyrich reported that the high bid for the surplus 2003 pick-up truck was from Jamie Wilson in the amount of $1575. He then moved to accept the bid. Ferrell seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken and the motion was approved 6-0.

b) Ferrell introduced the roof repair assistance program. Citizens can apply on-line through the City of Hoopeston web site for information. Reminder that electronics collection will be May 13 at the park annex from 10 am to 1:00 pm.

c) Gonzalez had nothing to report.

a) Lawson reported that the siren warning during the last severe storm had failed. Sirens will be repaired.

b) Miller reported on repairs to be made at the Civic Center and the steps she is taking to get qualified information and funding information.

c) Porth reported that all departments presented their budgets. After reviewing the surplus of $834,000 for one-time expenses was addressed. The budget will likely use $634,000 for one time expenses and $200,000 for emergencies. Get bids together and back to Bob to finalize the budget.

XV. MAYOR COMMENT- PROCLAMATION FOR HEALTHCARE DECISIONS DAY to be April 16, 2023 was read by Clerk Lane.

Ferrell moved to adjourn seconded by Miller. Council adjourned at 7:35 pm.
