Rep. Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) welcomed a government class from Dieterich High School to the state capitol in Springfield on Tuesday, according to a press release published on Friday.
“Mr. Repking does an excellent job with teaching how government is supposed to work and engaging his students to think critically about current issues that impact their lives,” Niemerg said. “Bringing the students to their state capitol to observe the actual process of discussions and debates is a nice complement to the textbook information they learn.”
The Illinois GOP also shared a brief video on YouTube showing Niemerg welcoming the class ahead of a legislative session.
"Behind me, I have the high school government class for Mr. Repking from Dieterich, and I want to welcome them to Springfield and say 'enjoy your day and welcome to the Capitol,'” Niemerg said.
On Feb. 1, Niemerg published a press release announcing his appointment to the Legislative Audit Commission, a body made up of Illinois House and Senate members required to review all audits conducted by the State Auditor General.
“I am grateful to House Republican Leader Tony McCombie for appointing me to serve on the Legislative Audit Commission," Niemerg said. "This commission oversees the audits of state agencies, which under Gov. J.B. Pritzker, have been an absolute mess. As a member of this commission, I will have access to information on how state agencies are falling short, and have the unique opportunity to offer solutions on how we can make Illinois government work better for taxpayers. Our citizens deserve a conservative and fiscally responsible voice at the table.”
In. a Feb. 3 press release, Niemerg announced his 2023 committee assignments, announcing his membership on the Illinois House Appropriations General Services, Consumer Protection, Elementary and Secondary Education School Curriculum and Policy, Insurance, Restorative Justice, and Labor & Commerce committees.
Niemerg is a Teutopolis native and a Dieterich resident who was first elected to the Illinois House in 2020. A member of the St. Isodore Catholic Parish, Niemerg received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University and is a member of the Farm Bureau.
