City of Gibson Pool Board Met May 26.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Meeting was called to order by Mark Ward at 5:20 p.m. in city council chambers.
Board members present: Deb Davis, Jill Andreae, Pool Manager Randy Ferguson.
Absent: Paul Phillips.
Guests: Jan Hall City Clerk, taking notes for WGCY Radio.
Discussion: Mark Ward suggested the guards work in shifts rather than open-close. Pay scale will be $9 per hour for beginning guards, returning guards will remain at their last pay rate.
Hannah Cliff is the Assistant Manager/Head Guard.
There are 10 guards currently on the list, more needed.
Guard certification and recertifications will be done this coming Friday/Saturday. Fees for recertification have been waived this year thanks to a generous donation made to the pool by the Presbyterian Church.
Randy Ferguson informed the board that as of today the water is clear, he is working on chemical balance and all will be fine for opening Monday.
As a celebration of the 100th year of the Gibson City swimming pool, there will be free hot dogs/chips/drinks to the first 100 people at the pool on Monday, opening day, beginning at noon. This will be served on the east side of the pool near the storage shed/bleacher area.
Jan Hall offered to clarify for the board if part-time summer help is required to have State Work Permits. Also, all guards are requested to have signed consent to work by their parents.
Jill Andreae announced a pool landscaping clean-up day this coming Saturday. Volunteers are welcome and appreciated.
Meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
