Q1 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Champaign County?

There were 64 offenders released on parole during the first quarter of 2020 that live in Champaign County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Chambana Sun.

The data shows that 59 men and five women were released in Champaign County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 38. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2018, and the oldest was a 66-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Theodis White Jr. He was convicted of homicide in 1998 when he was 22 years old. He is now 44.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the first quarter of 2020 in each Champaign County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
