Cost of college went up for all students at Danville Area Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 5.1 percent for 2018-19 at Danville Area Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $8,175 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $400 more than the $7,775 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid the same amount as residents this year, or $8,175. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 5.1 percent from $7,775 in 2017-18.

About 91 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 85 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 194 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.1 million and 37 students took out student loans totaling more than $111,185.

Including all undergraduates (2,620), 1,115 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.9 million, and 212 students took out $822,088 in federal student loans.
