Rantoul Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 6.
We know that people are disappointed that our Freedom Celebration was canceled however, what if we told you that your porch could be featured on WCIA?
We are hosting a Patriotic Porch & Pane contest! We want to give the community something to look forward to and a way to celebrate our independence. Anyone in the Rantoul Area can participate! Porches are for residents and Panes are for businesses.
There will be 3 categories for porches
1. Most Patriotic: Best use of the U.S. Flag
2. Upcycle: Best Repurposed Setting
3. Creative: Best use of flowers and/or paint
There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for each category!
1st's: $100, 2nd's: $75 & 3rd: $50 The prizes will be gift cards/certificates to businesses around the community!
That's a total of $675 going into the pockets of the community!
For Panes:
Decorate in whichever category you'd like!
1st Place: $200
2nd: $75
3rd: $50
When you're finished decorating, submit your photos to office@rantoulchamber.com along with your Name and Phone number. We may come by and get a video to submit to WCIA! The winners will be chosen on July 8th and 'Our Town Rantoul' will be aired on July 10th at 6:30pm
We encourage people to drive around and look at the porches!
Submit your entries by July 7th at 4pm.
