Q3 2019 Recap: Parolees in Danville convicted of sex crimes

There were four offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Danville during the third quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chambana Sun.

The data shows that four men were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 42. The youngest parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced in 2011, and the oldest was a 55-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Julian T. Abernathy. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2017 when he was 49 years old. He is now 52.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
