Rantoul Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 27.

In these uncertain times, there are plenty of people who have stepped up to do the hard work during the COVID-19 outbreak. Those front line workers, the grocery store workers, first responders, and healthcare workers, have been putting in the long hours, to make sure we’re safe, and secure.
That’s why we’re declaring Friday, April 3rd as April Foods Day. Our goal is to raise $20,000 in donations to be used to purchase gift cards to local restaurants. Those gift card will then be donated to C-U’s frontline workers as a thank you.
