City of Hoopeston Police Commission met Jan. 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

I. Call meeting to order

Kearney called meeting to order at 10:00

II. Roll Call

Present: Danner, Beauvois, Kearney, Crusinberry, DeWitt

III. Seating of Commissioners

Mayor appointed Terry Beauvois and was approved to the commission.

Danner and Kearney agreed for another year on commission

Motion by Beauvois to elect Kearney as chair

2nd by Danner

Vote

Beauvois Yes

Danner Yes

Kearney abstain 

Vote passed 2-0

IV. Approval of agenda

Danner motion to accept agenda, 2 nd Beauvois

Vote passed 3-0

V. Approval of meeting minutes from last meeting

Beauvois motion, Danner 2 nd

Vote passed 3-0

VI. Chief DeWitt report (Skipped until later)

@ 10:45 City Council Carl Ankenbrand was contacted about a new list for hiring officers. Chief let commission know that we currently have six names on our current list but we need to do something in June to fill the requirements by law.

VII. Mayor Crusinberry report (skipped until later)

Mayor thanked the commission for their hard work. Did consider another person for the commission job, but thought Terry Beauvois was the best option for the city.

VIII. Public Comment (Moved ahead of reports for community members to address commission)  Joshua Clifton and April Fivecoat addressed the Police Commission concerning an officer.

IX. Executive Session

Motion by Danner to move to executive session at 10:15, 2 nd by Beauvois. Vote passed 3-0

Motion by Kearney to move to open session at 10:44, 2 nd by Beauvois. Vote passed 3-0

X. Open session to vote

Nothing to vote on

XI. Adjourn

Motion to adjourn meeting at 11:09, 2 nd Danner Vote passed 3-0

Next meeting March 7, 2020 at 10:00
