City of Paxton Zoning Board of Appeals met May 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Zoning Board of Appeals held a meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Chairman Doug Higgins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Roll call showed the following members in attendance: Chairman Higgins, Amore and Bretz.

Also in attendance were Mayor Ingold, Building Administrator Rock, Alderman Glad and Jolen Anya Minetz.

Chairman Higgins stated this was a continuation of the meeting from May 9, 2019.

Jolen Anya Minetz asked the board to allow her to build a porch onto the front of her home at 247 W. Orleans St. that would wrap around, just like it did many years ago. She needs a variance to allow her to be 22 ft from the sidewalk instead of the 25 ft required per ordinance.

Bretz asked Minetz if she would enclose the porch or leave it open. Minetz stated the only portion that would be closed would be the entry way, but that is not part of this ordinance.

Chairman Higgins asked if Minetz had spoken to any of her neighbors regarding this change. Minetz stated the one neighbor she had spoken to, was excited to see the renovation. Minetz told the board that she wants to make the porch as original as possible. She stated she has old posts and doors that she will redo to bring the historical look back to the home.

Bretz made a motion to Approve the request by Jolen Anya Minetz at 247 W. Orleans St, to change the setback to 22ft from the South property line. Roll Call: yeas – Ch. Higgins, Amore and Bretz. All yeas – motion carried.

Amore made a motion to adjourn the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
