Q1 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Champaign County?

There were 75 offenders released on parole during the first quarter that live in Champaign County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Chambana Sun.

The data shows that 66 men and nine women were released in Champaign County. The median age of the parolees was 34. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2016, and the oldest was a 68-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Valerie D. Simpson. She was convicted of a crime involving alcohol in 2008 when she was 42 years old. She is now 53.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the first quarter in each Champaign County municipality.
