Former state university employee Mallory John paid in $23K to pension fund, could collect $726K in retirement

Former state university employee Bobbi Mallory John, who retired in February 2018, saved $23,062 toward a pension over 13 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Mallory John would collect as much as $725,934, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chambana Sun.

The projection assumes Mallory John received $15,258 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Mallory John will have already received $30,974 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
