62 percent of applicants to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign were admitted for fall 2017

At University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 98 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 55 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Champaign enrolled 48,216 students in fall 2017, including 33,955 in undergraduate and 14,261 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

74 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 11 percent are residents of other states. 14 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (45 percent) and Asian (18 percent).

The school admitted 62 percent of the 38,965 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 31 percent enrolled.
