Mid-Piatt Fire Protection District responded to 28 calls in 2017 - 40 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Mid-Piatt included 22 fires - seven structure fires, one vehicle fire and 14 other fires.

In all, the department saw $45,000 in fire loss - or about $2,045 per fire.

The department also received six false calls.

The Mid-Piatt Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $139,687 in 2017.
