Edge-Scott FPD responds to 19 fires in 2017

Edge-Scott Fire Protection District responded to 28 calls in 2017 - 16.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Edge-Scott included 19 fires - 15 structure fires, one vehicle fire and three other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $20,000 in fire loss - or about $1,053 per fire.

The department also received eight false calls.

The Edge-Scott Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $150,247 in 2016.
