Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Thomasboro was held on Monday,
February 26, 2018, President W. Tyler Evans presiding. President Evans called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.
Roll Call
The Village Clerk called the roll, finding the following members physically present: Village President W. Tyler Evans; and Trustees Anthony Grilo, Anna Martin, Kyle Henegar, Ronda Scott and Trent Sage. Trustee Dustin Rhodes arrived at 6:04pm.
Other Village officials present: Leon Albers, Treasurer; Robert Rea, Chief of Police; Tyler Martin, Public Works Superintendent; and Jeremy Reale, Village Clerk.
Budget Study Session
Mr. Albers presented the proposed budgets for the Administrative, Police, and Street divisions of the General Fund accounts and the budgets for the Water and Sewer Funds. Chief Rea discussed the Police department budget request. Changes that were highlighted included the addition of line items for health and life insurance costs totaling approximately $11,000.00, an estimated increase of four percent for dispatching based upon figures from METCAD, and $4,000.00 in the maintenance-building service line item for a new door at the public works facility. Mr. Martin then discussed the budget proposals for the street department, and the Water and Sewer Funds. The only significant change in the Sewer Fund was the inclusion of $20,000.00 for the purchase of a new pump for the Central Avenue lift station. The Board also consented to including $2,000.00 for smoke testing of sewer lines to discern illegal connections. In the Water Fund, monies had been allocated for the cleaning of the water tower; however, he noted that the Village would be trying to keep major expenses to a minimum in order to rebuild the fund balance without needing to increase consumer rates. The significant projects for the street department would include the construction of new fencing at the public works facility and around all lift stations to better secure these areas. Mr. Martin stated that he had obtained an estimate of $12,000.00 to $15,000.00 for a new fence at the site. Mr. Albers then discussed the administrative account in the General Fund. He noted there were no significant changes other than increasing funds for the upgrade of computers at Village Hall.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Board, Trustee Grilo moved to adjourn the meeting. Trustee Martin seconded the motion. Motion carried viva voce vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:08 pm.
