Audience Participation:
Marlon Mitchell, Champaign – not for profit “First Followers” targets the 18-24 age range re: workforce development.
James Kilgore, Urbana - also from “First Followers”, he added that the program needs resources; violence prevention deterrence.
Alan Banes, Champaign – spoke about gun violence, people don’t feel safe, felony “holds him back”.
James Corbin, Urbana – Intern & project facilitator with “First Followers”, shoestring budget, program costs less than incarceration, financial training for participants, jobs, services & opportunities will reduce violence; request for more programs like this, it is an investment in the community.
Heather Rose, Champaign – teach students mindfulness, health, leadership, teach a positive “growth mindset”.
Dave Bagger, Champaign – deny landmark status for Unit 4 properties.
