The Champaign County Board met March 17 at the Brookens Administrative Center to vote on a budget amendment that would provide an additional $11,250 for a technology upgrade for the county's public defender.

The public defender is scheduled to receive a new computer every five years. In this instance, the upgrade also required new laptops for the courtroom and equipment upgrades.

The board was also expected to reappoint Jeff Blue as county engineer, amend the budget by $25,000 to continue funding for the county's forensic interviewer, and honor retiring administrator Debra Busey.
