Several residents and business owners spoke out against a proposed gaming parlor in Fisher at the Feb. 11 board of trustees meeting.
Project developer James McCoy said he'd gathered 100 signatures of support through a petition left at Casey's, but residents attending the meeting expressed concerns, including proximity to schools and seniors, unnecessary competition with the two existing gaming locations and parties.
McCoy said he planned to limit alcohol and serve snacks and hoped the new business would make a positive impact on jobs and village revenue.
After some discussion, the trustees decided not to move any further on the issue, rejecting the opportunity to create an ordinance that would have allowed them to vote on the gaming issue.
