The Champaign City Council will vote tonight at the Champaign City Building on a set of amendments that would create new rules for restaurants and events that allow patrons to bring their own alcohol.
The practice is not currently regulated by city liquor code. The new amendments would create separate BYOB permits for restaurants and non-restaurant entities. Both sets of BYOB rules would allow patrons to bring and consume up to 750 milliliters of wine, 36 ounces of beer, or two 1.5-ounce servings of spirits. The rules also detail regulations for opening and serving alcohol and providing glassware and other supplies.
The Council will also vote on publishing an official zoning map for the city and the purchasing of aerial imaging software, as well as the appointments of Gail Broadie to the Champaign Historic Preservation Commission and Prosper Panumpabi to the Champaign-Urbana Cable Television and Telecommunications Commission.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 102 N. Neil St.
