University of Illinois honors Jefferson teacher

Jefferson Middle School social studies teacher Christine Adrian has been named one of the University of Illinois College of Education's distinguished alumni.

The award adds to a growing list of honors for Adrian, who also earned the 2010 Illinois History Teacher of the Year award from the Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History, the 2011 Outstanding Middle School Teacher of the Year award from the National Council for the Social Studies, and the Award of Teaching Excellence in Illinois in 2012.

Adrian teaches middle school social studies and civics at Jefferson Middle School in Champaign and is also responsible for organizing schoolwide activities, professional development activities, and syncing the school's curriculum with the new College, Career,and Civic Life platform.
