The Philo, Illinois board of trustees voted to reject a proposal from Feutz Contractors Inc. to fix a $14,000 mistake that was made during a previous striping project during its regular meeting on Nov. 11.
The trustees were upset the contract was not carried out to order, while Feutz blamed the village for not having a representative on site to oversee the work.
The trustees also agreed to outline Philo's 2015-2016 tax levy at their December meeting. The village attorney said the village can raise the levy by approximately $700.
The board unanimously passed the Champaign County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, and renewed the Hugs and Bugs lease on the Franks Center for an additional $25 per month.
After discussion with Marissa Brewer, the board approved a 50 percent discount on gym rental rates for the Union Rockettes for December through February on the condition that the group is willing to plan its use of the gym around otherwise unfilled time slots.
The village also discussed the ongoing construction of a Dollar General store. Several trustees had concerns about the quality of the work being done, but eventually agreed to trust the contractors to get the job done right.
