The village of Rantoul Board of Trustees passed an ordinance Tuesday outlining the timing of regular meetings, special meetings and study sessions.
The ordinance makes the Village Board Room at the Rantoul Municipal Building the official place for all meetings and 6 p.m. the standard start time. Meetings can be adjourned at any time.
Regular board meetings will take place on the second Tuesday of every month, except when that creates a conflict with a holiday, in which case the meeting will happen the next day.
Study sessions to prepare for regular meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month, with the same holiday provision as regular meetings. Study sessions are for preparation and discussion only; no binding decision can be made.
Special meetings, which can only be called by the village president or one of the village trustees, are for time-sensitive or otherwise urgent matters.
The ordinance took effect immediately.
