The Skyline Towers building in Champaign has won an award for excellent engineering.
The American Society of Civil Engineers Central Illinois presented designer MSA Professional Services with its Outstanding Engineering Achievement award. The 14-story building is LEED-certified and presents itself as a hub of commercial and residential activity in an area that was previously underutilized.
Champaign County Chamber of Commerce officials said the intersection where the building is was recently found to be the busiest in Champaign-Urbana.
The project at 519 E. Green St. was a collaboration between MSA Professional Services and site owner Bankier Apartment Rentals. The unit is one of three in the Campustown area for Bankier and offers its unit at $1,900 per month.
They come with Internet access, a washer and dryer, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a 50-inch flat screen TV.
