On November 4, Mikal Washington, a Community Relations Specialist from the Equity and Engagement Department, visited Central High School to discuss the Martin Luther King Jr. Advocacy for Justice Scholarship with students. City staff provided details about the scholarship, explaining that its goal is "to support high school students committed to pursuing higher education and continuing Dr. King’s legacy of equity, leadership, and social justice."
The presentation aimed to motivate students to apply for the scholarship. According to city staff, "the scholarship not only empowers future college students to make a positive impact in their communities but also helps alleviate the financial burden of pursuing a college education.”
The event was part of ongoing efforts by the Equity and Engagement Department to promote educational opportunities and encourage civic engagement among local youth.
