Prairie Street between White Street and Springfield Avenue remains closed as storm sewer repairs continue. Lanz Heating and Cooling, Inc. began work on the project on Monday, October 20. The street is expected to reopen to traffic on Friday, October 31, 2025, if weather conditions allow.
The closure is necessary to complete the needed repairs to the storm sewer infrastructure in the area.
According to the City of Champaign, "In order to perform storm sewer repairs, Lanz Heating and Cooling, Inc. closed Prairie Street between White Street and Springfield Avenue. Work began on Monday, October 20, and is now planned to be completed and reopened to traffic on Friday, October 31, 2025, weather permitting."
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes until work is finished.
