Illinois kicker David Olano has been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, according to an announcement from the conference office on Monday.

Olano's recognition follows his performance in Illinois' 47-23 victory over Purdue, where he made all five of his field goal attempts and converted four extra points, totaling 19 points. This achievement ties the Illinois record for most field goals made in a single game and marks the highest number by any Big Ten player this season.

He is only the second Illinois player to make five field goals in a road game, joining Mike Bass, who accomplished the feat at Wisconsin in 1982. Olano is also the first Illinois player since Neil Rackers in November 1999 to win back-to-back Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Following their win against Purdue, Illinois moved up to #17 in the national rankings. The team will next face top-ranked Ohio State on Saturday at Gies Memorial Stadium, with kickoff set for 11 a.m. CT on FOX.
