U.S. Representative Mary Miller, who serves Illinois’ 15th district, published a series of posts on her X account on September 30, 2025, criticizing Democratic leaders and policies regarding government funding, law enforcement, and immigration.
In her first post of the day, Miller wrote: "Make no mistake, if Democrats force a shutdown, they’ll be punishing the very people who deserve our support most: Veterans Troops Seniors Rural Communities" (September 30, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Miller addressed Illinois Governor JB Pritzker directly with another message: "To JB Pritzker: Stop coddling criminal aliens. Stop handcuffing law enforcement. Stop letting Chicago descend into lawlessness. Illinois families deserve safety, and President Trump is delivering. Cope harder." (September 30, 2025).
In a subsequent post the same day, Miller accused Senate Democrats of prioritizing benefits for undocumented immigrants during government funding negotiations: "Senate Democrats are demanding taxpayer-funded freebies for illegal aliens, threatening to shut down the government if they don’t get it. This is what they stand for. Remember that." (September 30, 2025).
Mary Miller has represented Illinois’ 15th congressional district since replacing John Shimkus in 2021. She was elected to Congress after winning against Erika Weaver in the 2020 general election with over seventy-three percent of the vote and reelected in 2022 by defeating Paul Lange with over seventy-one percent support.
